VIDEO – Ebro is back, as an electric pick-up • Besteauto.nl

Ebro, who remembers it? This historic Spanish commercial vehicle brand was given new life with the Ebro EcoPower, an electric pick-up based on the Nissan Navara.

Barcelona has always been an important place for Nissan. Various commercial vehicles were launched from the factory in the Zona Franca, including (e)NV200 and Navara as the latest products. The Navara is no longer being built, but a new function has been found for the factory: the rebirth of the Ebro brand.

As a brand, Ebro is owned by Motor Ibérica and is therefore of Spanish origin. The brand produced light and heavy commercial vehicles for decades. Now there’s an attempt at bringing the Ebro back to life with a Navara-based electric pick-up truck.

The Ebro EcoPower is a pick-up with a powertrain consisting of an electric motor producing 163 hp and 500 Nm of torque. The battery pack is 75 kWh and good for 400 km range. According to estimates, the EcoPower will weigh about 2.5 tons, which translates to a payload of up to 1000 kg. Further specifications have not been released.

Ebro wants to build around 1,000 new pick-ups per year at the old Nissan plant. It is not known whether EcoPower will also be available outside of Spain.
