Deloitte further launched internally developed AI tools in Europe and the Middle East

Deloitte is expanding its deployment of a generative AI chatbot called PairD to 75,000 employees in Europe and the Middle East. The tool, developed by Deloitte itself and launched in the UK in October, aims to increase productivity.

This tool can create PowerPoint presentations, write emails, and automate code. Employees are warned about possible inaccuracies in chatbot-generated information about people, places, and facts. Therefore, users are urged to conduct their own due diligence and quality assurance to verify the accuracy and completeness of the chatbot output before actually using it in their work. Unlike competitors that partner with big players like OpenAI, ChatGPT maker Deloitte develops its AI chatbot internally through the company’s AI Institute.

This launch highlights a growing trend in professional services using generative AI to automate tasks. Other big players, such as PwC, are already using AI chatbots in legal and tax departments to speed up employees’ work by summarizing large documents and identifying compliance issues.

The adoption of AI comes at a time when professional services companies are looking to reduce costs amid slowing demand for some of their services amid a challenging economic environment. All of the Big Four firms, including Deloitte, have announced redundancy programs in recent months.

Deloitte emphasizes that safe use of these new tools must be a priority for them to be implemented correctly and to create value. For example, employees must complete a training module before gaining access to PairD.

Many worry that the use of AI will eventually lead to many layoffs. However, according to Bloomberg, these fears are unfounded. According to them, AI can also help employees transition into needed positions, and Deloitte has been doing just that in recent months.
