This Thursday, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal confirmed that Russian troops had taken control of the Chernobyl zone.
The control of the territory by Russian troops was also noted by Ukraine’s presidential adviser, Mykhailo Podolyak, as “one of the most serious threats in Europe today.”

In ‘Horizonte’, Doctor José Martín Moreno has spoken about nuclear risks in the face of conflicts in Russia and Ukraine: “In public health we always hope for the best, but also prepare for the worst”, he warns.

In addition, he said that several countries have started informing the population about how to act in the event of a nuclear accident: “The nuclear risk is clear and countries like the UK or Sweden have already given instructions on how to act in the event of a nuclear accident. In Sweden, they have given some guidance, recovering them from the Cold War in 19661, on the basics of how to react in the event of a nuclear conflict,” he explained.
