The G20 is the country with the largest economy in the world. These are countries such as the United States, China and Russia, as well as the entire European Union.

The Netherlands is also participating this year. Our country is not a permanent member, but is often invited to take part in discussions because we trade a lot with other countries.

The G20 was founded after the major financial crisis in Asia in 1999. Since then, world leaders have discussed poverty, keeping food prices affordable, and other financial issues.
India
This summit is held every year by different countries, this year the meeting was held in New Delhi, India.

The theme of this year’s summit is ‘the world is one family’. However, the situation in the family was not always pleasant. China is not participating because they are at odds with India over where exactly their border is. And Russian President Putin also prefers to stay in Moscow.
Disturbance from monkeys
The G20 will receive special security. Since rhesus monkeys often cause a nuisance in New Delhi, men have started imitating the sounds of langurs. Rhesus macaques fear this species and are expected to avoid it in macaque areas.
Climate consultation
This week there is also a major consultation in Africa on the climate in Kenya. The countries hope their results will be taken into account in the G20 consultations.
