Rail strikes in Austria, Belgium and England

If you want to go overseas by train, you have to factor in delays and cancellations. For example, there are no trains going to and from Austria on November 28. Night trains will be canceled from Sunday evening. Rail travelers to Belgium and the UK have also been hit hard.

Austria

Austrian railroads and unions tried in vain on Sunday to prevent a strike. There will be no trains all day on Monday. About 50 night trains will be canceled on Sunday, incl Amsterdam – Vienna night train and Amsterdam–Innsbruck (and vice versa). Trains can also be canceled on Tuesdays.

belgium

Also in Belgium, part of the Belgian railway staff has announced it will stop working. The strike will start at 22:00 on the evening of Monday, November 28, and will last until Thursday, December 1. “For most of the international rail connections (namely Thalys, Eurostar, TGV INOUI and IC Brussels-Amsterdam) we expect regular servicetold the NMBS. Trains can be canceled at ICE Brussels – Frankfurt, and that also applies to cross-border traffic between Maastricht – Liège and Roosendaal – Antwerp.

About a quarter of the trains are expected to operate in Belgium. 2 of 5 intercity trains will run on Tuesday, and 1 of 4 local trains. There are almost no rush hour trains (P-trains). There are no trains at all on parts of the rail network. This then concerns Namur and the Belgian provinces of Luxembourg and Walloon Brabant.

Great Britain was also still suffering from the aftermath of a necessary attack. For example, there was a strike action on Saturday, November 26.
