‘Johnson cancels emergency meeting on extreme heat for his own farewell party’ | Overseas

Downing Street has been active Sky News confirmed that Johnson would not attend the emergency meeting. His office said he was reviewing on a case-by-case basis which meetings he would chair while he was prime minister. Johnson announced his departure last week. He did so when ministers resigned en masse due to dissatisfaction with his leadership. Johnson, beset by a series of scandals as prime minister, wants to stay in office until a successor is chosen.

According to anonymous sources, invitations to the farewell party were sent out earlier this week on behalf of “Mr and Mrs Johnson.” The party at the country house, which includes an indoor swimming pool, will take place on Sunday, according to the newspaper Sky News.

The UK weather agency’s Met Office, comparable to the KNMI, issued a code red for extreme heat yesterday. Record temperatures are expected across the UK on Monday and Tuesday, with the mercury rising to 40 degrees. It also gets very hot in other parts of the UK. British ministers will meet on Saturday afternoon to discuss the heat wave.
