British Airways will start flights to Guyana next month

British Airways will start operating flights between London and Guyana next month. The route will be served twice a week by Boeing 777-300ER with a capacity of 332 passengers. The plane will stop at St. Lucia is on her way.

Last October, the United Kingdom (UK) revoked visa requirements for Guyanese citizens wishing to visit the country. This was announced by the British High Commissioner for Guyana, Jane Miller, during a press conference with President Irfaan Ali.

Miller explained that this visa exemption only applies to Guyanese travelers wishing to visit the UK for up to six months. He also said the visa abolition was a “true sign” of the developing relationship between Britain and Guyana.

President Ali said the deal was reached after talks between former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and King Charles.

The head of neighboring Suriname believes the move will help promote more trade and business ties between the two countries.
