‘Training Ukrainian F16 pilots not ready until next summer’

The first group of six Ukrainian pilots may not complete pilot training for US-produced F16 fighter jets until next summer. This was opposed by senior Ukrainian government officials and military officials Washington Post said.

US President Joe Biden has long refused to agree to Ukraine’s request to supply F16s. The Ukrainian military chief stated that Kyiv could not win a dogfight with Russia without an advanced fighter like the F16. In May, Biden still agreed to train Ukrainian pilots for F16 fighter jets.

The Dutch Ministry of Defense reported in June that the Netherlands and several European countries wanted to start training Ukrainian pilots with F16s as soon as possible and a training center was being set up in an Eastern European country.

Based on Washington Post Due to its complexity, setting up a training program takes longer than expected. It will also be difficult for Ukraine to identify the most suitable pilot, given the complexity of flying the F16. (AP)
