Sports news: Arantxa Rus withdraws from quarterfinals

Friday

Tennis – Arantxa Rus has withdrawn from the quarterfinals of the ITF tournament in Madrid. She will play there against the No. 1 player on the seed list, Leylah Fernández of Canada. The reason for the withdrawal is unknown.

Thursday

Football – Vince van Egmond will play for Verburch next season. This 24 year old midfielder comes from fellow German Velo. At Wateringen he mainly played in the second team.

Football – Velo has strengthened itself for the upcoming season with Dominique Ariës. The 27 year old striker is currently still playing for second division club Vitesse Delft. He has scored seven goals for the team so far this season.

Tennis – Arantxa Rus has reached the third round in Madrid. The 32-year-old Monster player has little problem with Lucia Cortez Llorca: 6-1 and 6-3.

Tuesday

Tennis – Arantxa Rus has reached the second round in Madrid. The 32-year-old Monsterse had little trouble on Spanish clay against home player Jessica Bouzas Maniero: 6-2 and 6-2.

Football – Youri Riepe will play football for Sportclub Monster starting next season. This attacking midfielder comes from fellow German player SV Honselersdijk. Monster sports club were crowned champions of division three B last weekend and will play in division two next season.

Football – The SV Den Hoorn women’s team has lost the last match of the season. The away score is 4-2 at league leaders SEP in Delft. Den Hoorn is currently in second place in the three D division, but can still be overtaken by Lyra.

Monday

Football – Jill van den Ende will play for the ADO Den Haag Women first team starting next summer. The 19 year old Naaldwijk defender comes from a promising team. Last week he signed his first two-year contract in front of his family. Van den Ende started playing football at Westlandia and switched to the ADO Den Haag Vrouwen youth academy when he was 14 years old.

Basketball – The Green Eagles women’s team qualified for the Dutch 3×3 basketball championships on Sunday. The National Championship will be held on August 27 at the Amsterdam Bijlmer.
