Six sustainable start-ups are competing to raise £200,000 in the global Eco-Disruptive programme

Sanitas together with its parent company Bupa, a global healthcare company, has announced its sixth startups who have reached their final phase global innovation program in talent and sustainability, Eco-Disruptive. The goal of the program is to discover and support pioneering entrepreneurs in solutions that help address climate and health challenges.

More than 1,000 startups from all over the world have been attracted to this program. Team Sanitas and Bupa selected 18 startups, In the first stage, to work together with employees with the aim of developing a minimum viable product, for this they received a grant of 15,000 pounds. In the second phase, six startups have advanced to the global finals where they will compete for a a prize of 200,000 pounds which will help them continue to develop their products. At the global final, 82,000 Bupa employees worldwide will be able to vote to select the final winner. That startups Finalists in England, Spain, Australia/New Zealand are:

Diaper Recycling (Australia), recycles disposable diapers, guaranteeing new uses for fibers and plastics, which has a positive impact on the environment. The process emits 80.6% less carbon than throwing this waste into landfills.

Howz (United Kingdom), has developed remote monitoring technology that provides permanent insight into behavior and identifies indicators that a person may need medical support. Medsalv (New Zealand), helps hospitals in New Zealand reprocess single-use medical equipment and return them to hospitals for safe clinical reuse.

MiMark (Spain), has developed a tool aimed at improving the diagnosis of gynecological conditions, including endometrial cancer. Their solution can provide fast, accurate diagnosis and is less invasive. This innovation means increased sustainability and a high social and emotional impact for patients.

NovNat (English), has developed technology capable of producing water from air to help alleviate global water shortages.

UniSCool (Spain), has developed innovative cooling solutions that reduce emissions and energy consumption and extend the life of electronic devices for sustainable and efficient thermal management.

Eco-Disruptive brings together Sanitas and Bupa employees, entrepreneurs and start-ups to tackle some of today’s most important challenges for the health of our planet and people.
