Possible end to the Cewe Summit conflict

January 23, 2023

Large European graphics group Cewe, which derives most of its revenue from photo-related productions, has been battling at the top for some time. With the departure of the two top executives, peace seems to have returned.

If you Google Girl, you will mainly get offers for photo book production. However, this group is larger and provides a diverse graphics production package. In addition to the head office in Oldenburg, Cewe has production sites in Mönchengladbach, Eschbach near Freiburg, Germering near Munich, Saxoprint in Dresden, Berlin, Frechen near Cologne, Bad Kreuznach and Münster. In other European countries, Cewe has branches in the Czech Republic (Prague), France (Paris, Rennes, Montpellier), Poland (Kosel in Upper Silesia), Hungary (Budapest) and the United Kingdom (Warwick).

Yvonne Rostock’s appointment

A solution to months of internal conflict over the leadership of the Neumüller Cewe Color Foundation’s board of directors was announced in November with the appointment of Yvonne Rostock, reports Judith Grajewski of beyond-print.net. Around the turn of the year, both the previous Chairman of the Board of Directors, Dr. Christian Friege, and Dr. Rolf Hollander, Chairman of the Board of Directors, leaves the company. While one left of his own accord, the other was forced to resign. All signs point to a restoration of unity in Cewe.

Recurring disputes

Since the Cewe Color Foundation Board of Trustees decided in the spring of 2022 to terminate Dr. Christian Friege after the New Year, repeated disputes occurred within the group. This is because both the Supervisory Board and the heirs of the company’s founder, Heinz Neumüller, who together are Cewe’s largest shareholders with 27.1%, did not agree with the decision and had supported the contract extension.

The new Chairman of the Board of Directors will take office in March

The situation would calm down in November last year with the announcement that Yvonne Rostock Dr. Christian Friege will replace Chairman of the Board of Directors. Alexander Neumüller, beneficiary of the Neumüller Cewe Color Foundation, has determined that Friege, through his privilege of appointing members of the Board of Directors, will remain on the company’s Board of Directors after the New Year. However, Friege has now left the Group at his own request to face new professional challenges.

There are still riots

However, news portal NWZOnline recently reported that Hollander wanted to defend himself against this decision. Therefore, the dispute in Cewe will not be resolved quickly, the German-language website concluded. Read more about this development at beyond-print.net.
