People feel the hot breath of How You Samba

People and How You Samba will compete this week for the top spot in the Top 40.

This can be seen from the first position in the standings ahead of the Top 40 next Friday. Libianca, as well as Cian Ducrot, Ayra Starr and Omah Lay, have taken first place for three weeks now. Last week it became clear that Kris Kross Amsterdam, Sofia Reyes and Tinie Tempah would mount a clear attack. How You Samba has been in the top 10 since early June and over the past two weeks the track has moved one notch closer and last week it reached second place as the highest position. How You Samba has had more success on radio than People and these five also seem to be closing the gap fast in terms of streaming. The big question is whether it is enough to climb People. That meant the second number 1 hit for Kris Kross Amsterdam. In 2019, He Is Van Mij, their collaboration with Maan, Tabitha, and Bizzey, was number 1 for seven weeks. For Tinie Tempah from the UK this will be the first number 1 hit in our country where Sofia Reyes from Mexico is still making it. to get no more than number 25 in the Top 40.

Summer tracks also compete against each other on the list. Arranca by Becky G and Omega has been on the list for six weeks and is making its way into the top 10. Last week, Peggy Gou was the top newcomer with It Goes Like Nanana at number 19. South Korea is also taking a big step up on the list for next weekend. In the past week, Gou has more than doubled his streaming performance.

OneRepublic continues to grow toward the top of the list with Runaway. The American band is currently working on their 15th Top 40 hit. Runaway could be the tenth to make it to the top 20. The last hit it failed to do was 2019’s Rescue Me.

Lewis Capaldi was in the news last week as he had to decide to drop his appearance schedule. The 26-year-old British singer has a lot of trouble suppressing her tics on stage. Wish You The Best fell two places last week and was previously at number 18. This week his fifth Top 40 hit could climb again.

Among this week’s potential attendees, we especially look at Amalia van Wesly Bronkhorst. This song has been around for a long time since it was released in early June last year. Last week, Amsterdammer was awarded a gold record and a Top 40 list could also be added. Taylor Swift’s Karma has seen a significant increase in airplay. When it comes to streaming, the 33-year-old American relies heavily on YouTube. Given all the attention surrounding his concert, the big question next Friday will be will that be enough to make it into the Top 40? Two of her previous singles, Lavender Haze and All Of The Girls You’ve Loved Before, stuck at this year’s Tipparade.

Dominen Verschuuren will take you through the new roster this Friday starting at 2pm on Qmusic. You can see the full list at top40.nl from 6pm.
