Oleksandr Usyk announced a fight against an unexpected opponent! ‘Skip the nemesis’

Oleksandr Usyk vs. Daniel Dubois will take place in Wroclaw, Poland on August 26 and will headline TNT Sports Pay-Per-View.

That fight will mark the first heavyweight title fight of 2023. Usyk and Dubois will fight for title consolidation and the winner will become the only recognized WBA heavyweight titleholder. The WBA has ordered that Usyk a fight for the title he will have to face London’s Dubois (19-1, 18KOs), who holds the WBA ‘Regular’ heavyweight title.

The event will be broadcast under TNT Sports, the new brand name for BT Sport, which will be broadcast live in the UK on 18 July. Tyson Fury, the lineal/WBC heavyweight champion, has yet to confirm a date or opponent for his next fight.

With Usyk taking on Dubois, a short-term match against boxing icon Tyson Fury is out of the question. The Briton had been running to fight Usyk for a while but appeared to have eluded him. Fury is rumored to be fighting former UFC champion Francis Ngannou this year.
