Live blog – Hamas says it has freed two American hostages, Biden wants 13.5 billion euros in aid to Israel

Due to the escalation of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Lebanon’s national airline, Middle East Airlines (MEA), will halve its flights. The CEO announced this. Just today, European countries, including our country and Germany, advised their citizens to leave Lebanon.

Since the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, there has been daily shooting on the Lebanese border between the Hezbollah militia, a Hamas ally, and the Israeli army.

MEA will reduce the number of flights by more than half. “By Sunday, we will only deploy 8 of 22 commercial aircraft,” CEO Mohammad al-Hout said at a press conference at Beirut International Airport. This decision was taken after insurance companies expressed their concerns about the escalation of the conflict.

Earlier today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the travel advisory for Lebanon would be adjusted and advised compatriots to leave Lebanon. In a meeting of the Belgian nuclear cabinet, the minister pointed to a possible worsening of the situation in southern Lebanon. Since Monday, non-essential travel is not recommended.
