Jans does not want to save himself for the play-off with FC Twente against Ajax

“The stadium is sold out and we are in good shape,” Jans said. “We want to go into the play-offs with a good final competition game. Apart from that, there is still a lot to play for. We are still unbeaten at our own stadium in this competition and have conceded the fewest goals. If you as a club do not finish in the top three big “This is a special number.”

FC Twente and Ajax also faced each other in Enschede in the eighth final of the KNVB Cup in February. Then Ajax won 1-0 thanks to a goal from Mohammed Kudus.

Jans believes the Amsterdam team, which last week beat FC Utrecht 3-1, has started an upward trend again. “Ajax are going through a bad phase this season. They played a very good match against Utrecht and they will continue that into this weekend,” said the coach. “Ajax can still come second, but then they have to beat us. We will do everything we can to win. If I also look at our game in training, we will work towards the upcoming games with confidence.”

Robin Pröpper returns against Ajax from suspension at FC Twente, who, like Sparta Rotterdam and FC Utrecht, are already assured of a place in the play-offs. The fourth ticket goes to sc Heerenveen, RKC Waalwijk or Go Ahead Eagles.
