Biden is in London to visit King Charles and Prime Minister Sunak

Biden will meet with the British Prime Minister on Monday at his official residence at 10 Downing Street. According to the White House, their conversation will include a Ukrainian counterattack on Russian troops. Military support to Ukraine will also be discussed, British media reported.

The UK is seen as the US’s most important military ally in Europe. But London this weekend reacted with extreme caution to the US decision to supply cluster munitions to Ukraine. The British prime minister did not directly criticize the shipment, but stressed he remained behind international treaties limiting the use of the weapons. It is unclear whether Sunak will discuss the topic with Biden.

Biden will then visit King Charles III at Windsor Castle. There may be talk of mobilizing funds for clean energy development in developing countries.

However, the main reason for Biden’s visit to Europe is the NATO summit in the Lithuanian capital, Vilnius, which starts on Tuesday. After the summit, the American president will travel to Helsinki, where meetings are planned with the heads of state and government of Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Iceland and Norway.
