Morocco and the Netherlands sign an agreement

Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch and Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte signed a memorandum of understanding and partnership agreement for the development of a green hydrogen project in Rabat on Wednesday.

Green hydrogen took center stage during Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte’s visit to Morocco. He met Prime Minister Akhannouch on Wednesday 21 June to accelerate the development of the green hydrogen project. The Memorandum of Understanding and Partnership Agreement were signed by Minister of Economy Nadia Fettah and Minister of Finance Leila Benali of Energy Transition. The ceremony took place after a roundtable conference on green hydrogen, the press office wrote MAP.

On that occasion, the two heads of government also praised the friendship between Morocco and the Netherlands. “Both sides expressed their satisfaction with the quality of the centuries-old friendly relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Kingdom of the Netherlands, which have existed for more than four centuries. They welcome the current dynamic of bilateral relations which is conducive to the establishment of a strategic partnership between the two kingdoms,” said a press release from Aziz Akhannouch’s cabinet.

Rutte and Akhannouch also discussed the joint communiqué between Morocco and the Netherlands adopted in Marrakech in May 2022. This communique constitutes a roadmap for bilateral cooperation and reaffirms the shared desire to maintain a permanent political dialogue at all levels and work to strengthen economic, social cooperation and culture. “In this regard, the Head of Government has expressed gratitude to Morocco for the positive and constructive attitude of the Kingdom of the Netherlands towards the issue of the territorial integrity of the Kingdom, expanding the efforts of the Special Envoy of the Secretary General of the Kingdom. supports the United Nations and believes that the autonomy plan put forward by Morocco in 2007 is a serious and credible contribution to the political process led by the United Nations.”

In the economic field, both sides emphasized the need to identify new opportunities for cooperation in areas of mutual interest, establish a strategic framework for economic cooperation, promote investment and strengthen trade.
