Work Experience and Employment: Mr Kua Choo Kai started his career at Ernst & Young PLT’s predecessor firm, Ernst & Whinney, after graduating and working at the firm for 38 years. Before retiring in June 2020, he was a Partner in the Assurance practice in Kuala Lumpur and Director of Professional Practice for East Malaysia. He is also the Administrative Lead in the Malaysia office, responsible for facilities management and support services.

Mr Kua has experience in internal and external audits, information systems assurance, enterprise risk management frameworks, corporate governance frameworks, financial and management consulting. He has experience in automation, technology, telecommunications, real estate development and construction, gaming, consumer products, and healthcare. He has also been involved in international expatriate assignments in England and the United States.

Previously, he headed EY Advisory Services from 1997 to 2005, where he played a key role in starting EY Risk & Assurance Business Services. He is the partner responsible for various assignments for implementing the Corporate Governance and Risk Management framework. In 2005, he returned to mainstream Assurance and served as an engagement partner responsible for several large Malaysian conglomerates and multinational companies.
