Switzerland: They’re not going to ban TikTok on government phones

There is also concern about the effect on mental health that use of these social networks could have among children and young people.

The Swiss federal administration decided not to impose a ban on TikTok use on the phones of its public officials, despite vetoes imposed by countries such as France, Australia, Canada or the United Kingdom, among others.

According to national television RTS, Swiss authorities have decided to limit themselves to recommending that public workers use Chinese social networks with caution.

They also suggest that when using TikTok, with more than 1.5 billion monthly active users worldwide, officials provide as little personal information as possible.

The social network has raised concerns among many governments, including the United States, over fears of links between the Chinese communist regime and company ByteDance, which owns TikTok.

There is also concern about the effect on mental health that use of these social networks could have among children and young people, due to addiction or obsession with making viral videos which can leave users more vulnerable.
