Most of the Mexicans have left Sudan, reports the Ministry of Foreign Affairs – El Financiero

Due to the violent political crisis in Sudan, several countries are trying hard to help their citizens leave the African country, and Mexico is already one of them.

This week, the Secretary for Foreign Relations, Marcelo Ebrard, announced that five Mexican nationals and two relatives boarded a flight organized by Spain to evacuate compatriots from Sudan.

The foreign minister indicated that the Mexicans were doing well and thanked his Spanish counterpart, José Manuel Albares Bueno, for your support. He also indicated that this Monday another Mexican national would leave Sudan with the help of the United Nations.

This weekend, the United States announced it had successfully fully evacuated all of its diplomatic personnel from Sudan.

UN Security Council to reassess the situation in Sudan

The UN Security Council will meet next Tuesday to analyze the situation in Sudan after holding its first meeting last week, diplomatic sources announced this Sunday.

The meeting was held at the request of great Britainpartially open and partially closed, the format used when the Security Council addressed the crisis on Monday, April 17.

At the meeting, fifteen Member States received situation reports via video conferencing from UN envoy for the country, Volker Perthes.

This weekend, a number of countries began repatriating their Sudanese nationals by air, taking advantage of a three-day ceasefire announced by both sides of the conflict, although the pause was not respected.

Clashes between the Army and Rapid Support Forces (FAR) in Sudan started on April 15 and have resulted in more than 400 deaths, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
