ANDthis week, In the United States there is a lot of tension after leaking The Supreme Court draft notes that the landmark 1973 ruling which stipulates abortion rights across the country, could be rescinded this summer.
On Tuesday, Chief Justice, John Roberts confirmed the authenticity of the document.
“While the document described in the information is genuine, it does not represent the court’s decision or the final position of any member on the subject of this case,” said Roberts, who regretted his leak to the press.
“To the extent that this betrayal of court judgment is intended to undermine the integrity of our operations, it will not work.
“The work of the court will not be affected in any way,” he added, adding that he would carry out a formal investigation into the leak.
“This is a singular and egregious breach of trust which is an affront to the courts and the civil service society that works here,” condemned the Court’s president.
According to Telemundo, news portal Politico obtained a draft showing that a majority of judges supported the annulment of the court’s decision to legalize abortion.
