EA Sports FC 24 sold far less than FIFA

EA Sports FC 24 has been available in stores since September 29. This is EA’s first football game since breaking up with FIFA. At the moment it looks like the name change will only have a negative impact on sales.
EA Sports FC 24 sells much less than FIFA 23. According to Christopher Dring of GamesIndustry.biz EA Sports FC 24 sold 30 per cent fewer physical copies in the UK than FIFA 23 at the same time last year. EA already expects the new name to have an impact.

Another possible reason for the decline in physical sales is that many fans purchased the Ultimate Edition, which provides early access and is only available digitally. A 30 percent drop is a bit big if it’s just due to the Ultimate Edition, especially since FIFA 23 has a similar edition. It seems that many FIFA players are unaware that the series now has a different name.

EA Sports FC 24 is still selling well

This decline does not mean the game is not selling well. The game is currently the second biggest physical launch of 2023 in the UK. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is currently at the top. Hogwarts Legacy is at number three.

There is one platform where EA Sports FC 24 outsold FIFA 23. The game sold more on Switch than its predecessor. This may have something to do with the fact that for the first time in years, EA Sports FC 24 is not a Legacy Edition on Switch and therefore offers the same content and features as the PS4 and Xbox One versions.
