The governments of the Dominican Republic and the United Kingdom signed a memorandum of understanding this Thursday giving these countries access to a £4 billion line of credit.
With these resources, the Dominican Government will implement strategic infrastructure projects in the water, health, energy transportation and security sectors.
The signing of the agreement took place in the Green Room of the State Palace, chaired by the Minister for the Presidency Joel Santos, indicating that the projects in the area are part of a multi-year planning strategy. , which is also a sector with high social impact.
According to the official, the agreement sets the parameters for future cooperation between the two countries and will cover projects in institutions such as the Ministry of Public Health; Defend; Agriculture; Energy and Mining; inapa; caasd; Indri and Omsa.
As an example, Joel Santos gave an example, Inapa will work on 8 hotel projects and the construction of an aqueduct in the east. Within CAASD, he said, he would conduct a study on the impact of sanitation in 42 Canadian Santo Domingo, as well as solid waste and residual water in Greater Santo Domingo.
Santos pointed out that 15 projects have been identified and will start in 2024 with the aim of strengthening the infrastructure and social sector of the country.
