Cyclone Isha claims second life in UK

The passage of Storm Isha has caused two deaths in the UK, where tens of thousands of households were without power on Monday. Ireland was also affected.

An eighty year old has died in Scotland. The man’s car hit a fallen tree in the town of Grangemouth on Sunday evening. The other passengers were not injured.

In Northern Ireland, a man in his sixties died after the van he was driving hit another vehicle and a tree fell.

In Ireland, more than 155,000 households were still without power as of midday on Monday. In the morning there were still 235,000 households. This was reported by the ESB manager. A company official explained to public broadcaster RTE that power had to be restored during the day. However, for some customers it may take several days.

More than a quarter of flights at Dublin Airport were canceled on Monday, but air traffic resumed on Monday.

In Northern Ireland, 24,000 families had their power cut as of Monday afternoon, according to the electricity grid operator, while power had been restored to 30,000 customers. Across England, 46,500 households were affected.

The impressive trees at Dark Hedges in Northern Ireland, made famous by the series ‘Game of Thrones’, were damaged. Three people died as a result of the storm.

In Scotland, where no trains were running Monday morning due to fallen trees on the tracks and flooding, a code red for high winds has been in effect since Sunday evening. Dozens of schools were also closed.

Winds of up to 100 miles per hour have been recorded in northeastern England, according to the Met Office.

A new storm Jocelyn is expected to arrive on Tuesday. According to Sky News, this will mainly be seen on the island of Ireland and to a lesser extent in the UK.
