British schoolchildren sent underwear to King Charles: here’s why

In England, it has been a long-standing tradition for schoolchildren to send underwear to the head of state. This has something to do with the children’s book published in 1994 with the title Queen’s Panties. In this book one wonders if Queen Elizabeth has special panties for every occasion.

The book is used by many schools to explain to young children what the Queen actually did for her country. Now that the crown has passed to Charles, a new version of the book has been published entitled King’s Trousers.

Elementary school students recently decided to break the tradition again and send a series of panties to the king. Their surprise was great when, not long after, they received thanks from Charles and Camilla, who expressed their gratitude for the ‘kind’ gesture.

According to Nicholas Allan, the author of the book, Elizabeth could always laugh about underwear. “I’m so happy the tradition of sending underwear to the king continues.”

Although the children responded enthusiastically to Charles’s thanks, he was not always received with enthusiasm everywhere. This video once again proves it:
