Samsung registers a name for a new camera (zoom) sensor

Samsung is keen to note the names of two new camera sensors aimed at telephoto cameras: Isocell zoom And Isocell Zoom Pro. Are we seeing the first hint of the Galaxy S24 Ultra here?

Samsung Isocell Zoom Pro camera sensor

For several years now, Samsung has been very successful with telephoto cameras in smartphones with the word Ultra in the name. The combination of 3x and 10x optical zoom has worked great for three generations – from the S21 Ultra to the S22 Ultra to the current Galaxy S23 Ultra. But until when will Samsung continue to use the same ‘setup’? The new trademark filing may hint at a new zoom camera.

Yesterday, Samsung in the UK filed documents for trademark protection Isocell zoom And Isocell Zoom Pro. Although in recent years it has been quite a lot ISOCELLcamera sensors come and go, didn’t see any previous additions Zoom in or Pro.

The app itself only reveals that the names are for camera sensors. Specific details for a Zoom Isocell (Pro) sensors are not given further.

We can demonstrate a relatively recently published patent application for a zoom camera with sensor shift image stabilization. Or Zoom ISOCELL censorship may have something to do with this, however, we dare not say.

For the Galaxy S24 Ultra?

Of course, the next logical question that comes to mind is: what device – a mobile phone – is that Isocell zoom sensors mean? It’s tempting to immediately think about the next Ultra: the Galaxy S24 Ultra, which should appear in early 2024. The new telephoto camera setup won’t be out of the question after the recent Ultra, in addition to the 200-megapixel main camera that’s already on the S23 Ultra.

However, it is still very early to make any concrete statements about the device’s camera. Moreover, several other Samsung phones will appear before the upcoming Galaxy S24 series. Think about the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5. Z series devices haven’t traditionally focused heavily on zoom cameras. This is mainly due to the lack of space in the flimsy house. But: will be a specialist Zoom ISOCELL sensors therefore may offer a solution? Who knows may say.

You will find a new trademark application with English Intellectual Property Office HERE And HERE.
