Alisson Becker (28) was unable to attend the funeral of his father José Agostinho. The Liverpool goalkeeper’s 57-year-old father drowned in a lake in Brazil on Wednesday.
Alisson tried everything, but ultimately had to accept that it would be impossible to travel to Brazil at the moment. There are no exceptions to travel restrictions from the UK and, in addition, Natalia, Alisson’s wife, is already 28 weeks pregnant. With pain in his heart, Alisson was told that he could not attend his father’s funeral. His 34-year-old brother Muriel, the goalkeeper for top Brazilian club Fluminense from Rio de Janeiro, could travel to the south of Brazil.
Klopp
Earlier this month, Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp had to miss the funeral of his 81-year-old mother Elisabeth. He is also not allowed to travel from England to Germany. Liverpool played against a German club (RB Leipzig) in the Champions League last Tuesday, but the match was played at the Puskás Aréna in Budapest.
