AALTEN – On Sunday, January 15th, a nearly filled field represented the sport of darts at the local level.
Relatively early in the morning, the lights come on on the stage of Oerkroeg Schiller’s famous crossbow. “Are you ready? Let’s play darts!” and the battle for Aaltens’ championship erupted.
From the group system, a division is forced to be the strongest player at the moment, to finally end up in the semifinals. Team Schiller 2 won the honor for offering exclusivity from now on to fill the game schedule. In a fierce final, Wybe Kempers finally captured the title and was crowned the Aaltens BESEL CUP 2023 Champion.
In the year of the 25th anniversary (2023) of the Schiller 2 darts team, the party committee has decided to highlight certain people. These are the people who have made an indelible contribution to the Schiller 2 team. As such, the challenge cup belonging to the Aaltens championship will be called the BESEL Cup from 2023. Named after the founder of at least the local and regional sport of darts: Bennie Sellink. Jubilee loved getting to do this move just after Bennie’s 70th birthday.
Where in Great Britain there was an annual battle for the legendary Sid Waddell Cup during the World Darts Championship, from now on in Aalten there will be an annual darts competition for the already famous BESEL Cup.
Darts association Schiller and manager Jaap Delleman would like to toast association founder Bennie Sellink.
