World hit: Gusttavo Lima at number 1 in Brazil

Every week on Wereldhits we take you on a journey through the charts overseas. What song is the most popular at the moment? What are the most striking shifts? This week we look at Brazil and Sweden, England, Italy and Curaçao and Bonaire.

Brazil
A GENTE FEZ AMOR – Gusttavo Lima
We started our journey in Brazil and there we met an old acquaintance. In 2012, Gusttavo Lima set a record in the Dutch Top 40 by being at number 1 for 13 weeks with Balada. It wasn’t until 2017 that the Top 40 record was broken again by Ed Sheeran’s Shape Of You which lasted for 15 weeks and is now held by Calvin Harris and Dua Lipa who led the Top 40 for 16 weeks with One Kiss. We didn’t hear much from Gusttavo in the Netherlands after his big success, but in his home country he was a true superstar. With A Gente Fez Amor he has been at the top of Brazil’s hit list for several weeks. Marília Mendonça is at number 2 with Graveto, followed by Stuck With You by Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber. At number 4 we find Henrique and Juliano with Liberdade provisória and at number 5 is Aí Eu Bebo by Maiara and Maraísa.

Sweden
BED – Victor Leksell
Sweden really ran away with Victor Leksell. Her Svag has been at the top of the Swedish charts for weeks. The 23 year old Swede will definitely be popping the champagne this week, as four of his songs are in the top 10 this week, three of which are in the top 5. This is mainly due to the release of his album Fånga mig när jag faller (Catch Me If I Fall), which immediately took first place in the album list. However, the two album tracks in the top 5 still have to compete with Savage Love (Laxed – Siren Beat) from Jawsh 685 and Jason Derulo, because the track jumped from 30th to 2nd position. Miss Li’s Komplicerard is also still above Bedövning and Ha dig igen , new ones in 4 and 5.

Great Britain:
SAVAGE LOVE (LAXED SIREN BEAT) – Jawsh 685 & Jason Derulo
We boarded a plane to London (masked of course) and at the airport we could already hear the sounds of Rockstar by DaBaby and Roddy Ricch. These two American rappers are again in first place in the UK, but the competition is quite tight. Savage Love (Laxed Siren Beat) rose from 22nd to 4th and appears to be heading for first place at breakneck speed. Apart from Rockstar, Rain On Me by Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande (#2) and Breaking Me by Topic and A7S are also must-beaters. German and Swedish producers went from 4 to 3. Harry Styles also picked up speed, as the temperature rose. Watermelon Sugar rose 4 places and ended in 7th place.

Italy
MEDITERRANEAN – Rhythm
To the azure blue sea and more specifically the coast of Italy. In Italy’s hit list, Irama rose from 2nd to 1st place with Mediterranea. The song was the first number 1 hit for Filippo Fanti, as the singer is called. In 2018 he reached the top 3 for the first time by reaching number two with Nera and with La ragazza con il cuore di latta he reached number 3 last year. Cadence already broke through in 2015 and, after a short decline, starting at the end of 2016 he took part in the talent show Amici, which he won convincingly. Since then he has become more popular than ever and his number 1 hits reached new records. Karaoke by Boomdabash and Alessandra Amoroso rose from 3rd to 2nd below Mediterranea, while M’ Manc by Shablo, Geolier and Sfera Ebbasta fell from 1st to 3rd. In 4th place we find the highest newcomer of the week and that is Ernia’s Superclassico. We also find it in 5, because there is a collaboration with Tedua, Rkomi and Lazza: Puro Sinaloa.

Curaçao and Bonaire
RAIN ON ME – Lady Gaga & Ariana Grande
We finished with cocktails in the Netherlands Antilles. Stuck With You by Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber peaked at number 1 on the Curaçao and Bonaire charts. Both superstars felt the hot breath of Topic and A7S on their necks, as Breaking Me won two places and finished in 2nd place. For Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande the gains were bigger: they rose from 9th to 3rd place with Rain On Me. Benee and Gus Dapperton also went fast. The New Zealand singer and the American singer rose from 6th to 4th. Number 5 was Dua Lipa’s Break My Heart, the same as last week.
