Calendars in other countries
Almost all EU countries present personal income tax returns in the first half of the year, while in America there is more variety. Since there are important differences between the tax calendars of different countries, it is important to know them well when you have to pay taxes in several countries. Here are some examples:
German: The 2021 income statement can be made from January 1, 2022 to July 31 of the same year.
Portugal: The Portuguese fiscal year runs parallel to the calendar year, starting on January 1 and ending on December 31. This will be the date on which the declaration will be appropriate in the following year. For presenting income tax returns in Portugal for 2021, the deadline is from 15 February (by which time the change of address must be communicated and the first data checked) to 30 June. These dates tend to recur constantly and only vary by a few weeks.
Great Britain: The fiscal year begins on April 6 and ends on the following April 5, that is, a different fiscal year of many European countries. Income declarations in the UK became practically unnecessary given that workers paid their taxes immediately. But if the British Body requires it to present an income statement (self-assessment) at all times, there is an obligation to do so annually.
France: the date for making an income tax return in France opens in April and lasts until June, as in Spain, although the time of submission is by department number (the territorial entity into which the country is administratively divided)
Mexico: Everyone who receives income from economic activity in Mexico must file their annual tax returns with the Tax Administration Service (SAT) starting April 1, 2022 and they will have time throughout the month to do so. In 2022, the SAT confirmed that since April 30 falls on a non-working date, the term has been extended to Monday, May 2.
Colombia: According to the DIAN tax calendar (National Directorate of Taxes and Customs), between August 9 and October 19, 2022, the deadline for individuals to show their income taxes is for the 2021 tax year in Colombia.
Chilli: In April of each year, revenue operations are carried out, an instance in which the Internal Revenue Service (SII) presents a proposal that must be reviewed by taxpayers and then sent with modifications, if applicable. In the Andean countries this can be done online, via an application or at the SII office, and the deadline, in May, varies whether the declaration involves paying taxes or not.
