Uruguay and the UK recently signed an agreement that will allow implementation of a new system of work and holiday visas between the two countries.
This was stipulated in an agreement signed by Foreign Minister Francisco Bustillo and British Parliament Undersecretary of State for the Americas and the Caribbean, David Rutley, where it was specified that young Uruguayans would be able to work in Great Britain for two years. and England are the same, but in Uruguay.
From the Ministry of Foreign Affairs they confirmed that -legally- the agreement had come into force since the signing, but due to adjustments it would formally begin early 2024. In the first example there will be a quota for 500 young people per year.
Requirements for applying for work and holidays between Uruguay and the UK
- have between 18 and 30 years old.
- Intending to enter the United Kingdom for holiday purposes and without work being the main motive from the visit.
- Not accompanied by family dependents or have dependents who live with or are financially dependent on them at the time of application.
- have a passport issued by the Oriental Republic of Uruguay, valid for at least the period of stay in the territory of Great Britain.
- have tickets from round trip or sufficient funds to purchase the ticket.
- Own financed to support themselves during the initial period of their stay.
- pay specified application fee.
- have a Comprehensive medical and inpatient insurance which will remain vactive throughout the period their stay or pay the Migration Health Surcharge (or meet equivalent requirements) at the time of application to cover the permitted period of stay.

- Do not accept working holiday visas (or equivalent) from the UK.
- Provide evidence of police controls demonstrating that They have no criminal record.
