On the morning of December 31st, the walruses arrived in English harbour, Scarborough city authorities called and fireworks scheduled to say goodbye to 2022 were suspended.
International News.
UK city authorities suspended fireworks, so as not to endanger the health of Thor, the walrus who arrived at the harbor in Scarborough on December 31.
Steve Siddons, the mayor of the town, assures that this decision was made after consulting with experts from the charity British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR), which is dedicated to saving marine animals.
It was a walrus on the way to the North Pole, where it lives.
He arrived in passing in the coastal town of Scarborough (England), just in time for New Year’s Eve celebrations on December 31.
And why did it go viral, year-end activities with fireworks being prepared in that city, a tradition. But with Thor’s arrival, that led to a change of plans.
In order to avoid the suffering of the beast and enjoy a temporary stay and be able to recover its strength before continuing its journey, there is no burning of gunpowder.
It was a mammal about 8 years old, very young.
Finally the time has come! After hours of him teasing us (I thought he would take another break) I was so happy and relieved when he was finally back in the ocean! We ran to the end of the harbor where we saw it surface a few times before disappearing into the darkness pic.twitter.com/bKnUMjT3pM

Siddons added: “We are very disappointed to have to cancel the show, but the welfare of the walruses must come first as fireworks can cause distress.”
The next day on January 1 of the new year, Thor was seen sleeping and having fun.

Once he is ready, he will continue his journey.
The team of doctors guarantees your well-being. Once you have the strength and decide to retire to continue your journey, that’s how it is.
An illustrious visit to the port in Yorkshire, which once again returns to the water to continue its journey.
📷 – @DlangstonBirder@BdmlrNland amazing taking care of Thor so well now that he is staying in Northumberland for the 2nd day and continuing to woo the crowds.
Fortunately, she has chosen a better place to transport her where she can rest in peace and can be monitored more naturally😍 pic.twitter.com/MzLxApR6SL
