As the driving force, the Netherlands today officially invited the UK to join as a partner. This was announced in Brussels at the Council of Foreign Ministers of Defense.

“I am very pleased with the Council’s positive decision. We sent an official invitation to London this afternoon,” said Minister Kajsa Ollongren.

His British colleague Ben Wallace called the military mobility project an important support for EU-NATO cooperation. According to Wallace, cooperation with European partners guarantees greater European security. He also called it collective and determined support for Ukraine.

He Military MobilityThis project is part of the permanent structured cooperation (PESCO). This is one of the pillars of EU defense policy. PESCO was established in 2017 to enable EU member states to cooperate closely in the field of security and defence. Under the banner of the partnership, member states jointly invest in defense capabilities and projects. In addition, they increase the operational readiness and resilience of their armed forces.

Last year, Canada, Norway and the United States joined the European mobility project. This means for the first time they have a partner from outside the EU.
