UK: Health workers declare historic strike

Union of nurses and nurses English, Welsh and Northern Ireland announced in the last few hours They will be suspending activities for December 15 and 20.

Workers are demanding wage increases in the wake of the strike which will be the largest in the history of the UK’s public health system, known as the NHS.

After the Government refused to negotiate an increase, from the Royal College of Nursing they called for a strike which, according to what they indicated, would be phased in, indicating that they could announce more dates if they did not reach an agreement with the authorities.

“They have the strength and means to stop the attack at any time, but they have chosen to go down this path”said Pat Cullen, general secretary of the Royal College of Nursing, regarding the government’s position.

In this regard, Cullen urged his colleagues to join the claim: “If you take part in a legal strike you are entitled to claim £50 for each day of strike via our strike fund. A form to claim this will be released in mid-December.”, the leader reported.

“The dispute is about pay, but also about patient safety. Staffing levels are so low that patient care is compromised. Only by paying nurses fairly will we keep people in our profession.”

When Scotlandthe fourth country to integrate Great Britain, the strike was stopped after the Scottish government resumed negotiations with laborers and workers.
