Trump paid zero dollars in taxes for a year, has an account in China

This is a summary of tax returns from 2015 to 2021, the years that Trump was a presidential candidate and then president. This shows, among other things, that he paid $0 in income taxes in the last full year he was president. The previous year, he had to pay $134,000 from the tax authorities.

In 2018 it was $1 million and the previous year it was $750. Democratic committee members believe that the US tax authorities (IRS) have not checked thoroughly whether the returns are correct. The IRS did absolutely nothing to find out about Trump’s tax dealings “until I asked myself,” complained committee chairman Richard Neal.

Trump will also have bank accounts in China, Ireland and the UK at least between 2015 and 2017 – including when he is already in the White House. However, as of 2018, he only registered accounts in the UK. The tax returns also show that for several years he appeared to have paid more in taxes overseas than in the US itself, including in Azerbaijan, China, India, Indonesia, Panama and the Arab Emirates.

The tax papers cover thousands of pages: the first reaction of tax professionals to the vast pile of business constructions, tax withholdings and tricks is a mix of awe and suspicion: -they look the same at first glance,” one tax expert told the AP news agency.

‘Bad stuff for a lot of people’

Trump views the disclosure of his personal finances as a political misguided move and an invasion of the privacy of all Americans. “Democrats should never do this, the Supreme Court should never approve this, and this is going to cause bad things for a lot of people,” the former president said. He is considering running for president again in 2024, but faces increasing competition within his own ranks, particularly from Republican Florida governor Ron DeSantis, who is 32 years younger than the 76-year-old Trump.

The committee voted to publish last Tuesday; with 24 Democrats in favor and 16 Republicans against. In the new year, the proportions are different in the DPR. Republicans then had a majority there and that was reflected in the composition of the committee.

Trump has consistently refused to release his tax returns, a practice that has been common practice for presidents and presidential candidates for decades. He declined to disclose details of his assets and business activities. After years of legal battles, a parliamentary committee awarded Trump’s six-year tax returns by the Treasury in late November.

The parliamentary committee released a report earlier this month containing its findings. Documents show that Trump and his wife Melania paid little to no federal income taxes during their years in the White House. For that, the couple claimed multiple deductions and huge business losses.
