Today: Lily Allen is no longer allowed to enter the US

On August 7, 2007, Lily Allen was detained upon arrival in the United States due to having a criminal record in the United Kingdom.

The United States famously bans people with criminal backgrounds. This also happened to Lily Allen. The singer wanted to visit the US but was refused a work permit after he attacked a photographer in London. Even so, he decided to get on a plane and fly from Australia to America.

Upon arrival at Los Angeles airport, the singer was detained and searched and returned to the plane after five hours. Ten days later he also had to cancel his American tour plans. This was supposed to be a big break for Allen. The authorities don’t seem to be very active in clearing out the singer’s paperwork: “I’m really disappointed. “I want to tell my fans that I will be back as soon as possible,” he said. Performances at the MTV Awards also could not continue.

These days include the birthdays of Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden, 1958) and Marc Van Der Voorn (IOS, 1974).
