History
The origins of this day date back to 1973, as Europe experienced a decline in oil reserves, after the crisis various governments reduced the use of cars.
In 1994, the first car-free days were held in cities such as France, England and Iceland. Three years later, Britain became the first country to officially declare its first national car day.
Now, in 2000 the European Union declared September 22 as World Car Free Day.
Take advantage of not using a vehicle
- It contributes to environmental maintenance, as it does not cause pollution.
- This helps in time, as traffic jams can be avoided.
- Reducing stress because walking and cycling are good for improving life.
- This allows economic savings, as it is not spent on petrol or parking.
It is clear that implementing these measures contributes to the present and the future, because preserving the environment is the same as preserving the world.
