Israeli company Elbit Systems, a leading manufacturer of defense systems, plans to open two factories in Morocco in the near future. Shai Cohen, head of the Israeli liaison office in Rabat, announced the news.
In a statement to the press, Cohen said one of the two plants would be in Casablanca. According to him, the production company will manufacture “defense systems”. His announcement follows an agreement signed last year between Rabat and Tel Aviv to set up two Israeli factories in Morocco that specialize in the production of military drones.

The factories are also in line with ongoing efforts to strengthen military cooperation between the two countries, which started with their normalization of relations in December 2020, under the Abraham Accords under the auspices of the United States. Twelve soldiers and officers from the Israeli army’s elite Golani unit will participate for the first time this year in Lions of Africa, a military exercise jointly hosted by Morocco and the United States, which will take place in the kingdom until June 19.

Last Thursday, the Speaker of the Israeli Knesset, Amir Ohana, also visited Morocco, where he met the Speaker of the Moroccan Parliament, Rachid Talbi Alami. The Israeli official took the opportunity to stress the importance of political and security cooperation between Rabat and Tel Aviv.
