On The Door, Teddy Swims sings about love again. You can listen to number 2 track Lose Control’s successor as an Alarm disc on Qmusic all next week.
As an artist, you need a good name. It didn’t take long for American Jaten Dimsdale to create an alter ego. He chose the name Teddy Swims. The first part of the name refers to his height, while the other part philosophically means ‘someone who he is sometimes not’. And that also applies to Teddy’s music. He blends his youthful soul with R&B, hip hop, and pop and that ensures more and more listeners can discover his music on streaming services. He made a worldwide breakthrough the last six months through Lose Control. The song about all-consuming love has been at number 2 in the Dutch Top 40 for several weeks and even hit number 1 in Belgium.
Love sickness
You might think the singer would know how to conquer England with ease. That’s disappointing. Lose Control has yet to reach higher than 53 on the Official Singles Chart. The door to success has not yet opened there, but on his new path, the American racer is opening another path. And not for a good reason: he showed his loved one the door after a toxic relationship. Her face made him feel sick, but in the meantime his heart was breaking. It felt like he had torn out his heart and stomped it into the ground. It’s heartbreaking, but it’s precisely that pain that Teddy Swims can sing so well with his raw, soulful voice.
Self-development
The Door gave Teddy Swims his second Alarm disc, after Lose Control. Teddy previously stated that his music was taken from life. He has a notebook where he writes down sentences that inspire him. Her album I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy (Part 1) is full of situations she learned about from conversations with friends or other moments. It took the American four years to write the song that marks his personal journey. This will be a series of albums that show how the singer has developed.
Every Friday at 16:00, Domien announces Qmusic’s new Alarm disc that is in the Top 40. The Alarm Disk is a new song that Qmusic thinks has a good Top 40 future. That’s why you’ll be hearing this song more often throughout the week, so everyone can get a sense of this potential hit song. You can see all of Alarm’s discs from 1969 on our playlist on Spotify.
