There was a huge gust of wind heading our way. From Sunday to next Tuesday there will be storms, with wind gusts reaching 110 kilometers per hour, said meteorologist Magdel Erasmus from Buienradar.
The UK Meteorological Office, working with the Netherlands’ KNMI, has now given the storm a name. This is about the Isha storm. You can also see it in the message below:
But that doesn’t mean we will have quiet days here. Far from it, in fact. As previously reported, the wind was blowing hard. “There will be a storm,” said Erasmus. “We could reach force 8 winds on the coast on Sunday.” On Monday it will be a little calmer with wind force 7, but on Tuesday it will probably be force 8 again. “It is no longer storm Isha, but a new low pressure area.”
So wind, wind, wind. But it will also rain heavily. “The most rain occurs at night until Monday,” said Erasmus. Although it doesn’t get better on other days. “It will be quieter on Thursday.” Another positive ending? It’s there for people who don’t like the cold. Temperatures will still be 7 degrees on Sunday. “Monday it’s 12 o’clock, Tuesday 13 o’clock,” said Erasmus. “And the normal temperature for this time of year is around 5 degrees.”
Weather warning
Although in the Netherlands storm Isha can reach wind speeds of 110 kilometers per hour, these wind speeds increase slightly in the UK. There, the Met Office warned of local wind speeds that could reach 130 kilometers per hour. Therefore, the UK weather service has announced a weather warning.
“Cyclone Isha brings us extremely stormy weather with very strong winds across the country, with heavy rainfall bringing additional danger, especially in western regions,” the Met Office said. Britain must take into account delays on roads, possible power outages and dangerous conditions on beaches.
