Starting this week, twenty guys from Brabant will chase their darts dreams during PDC Q School, see who’s participating here | Sports area

Nearly 100 Dutch darts players chased their dreams this week during the PDC Qualifying School. At a school called Q School, you can get a ticket as a darts player to play with the world’s best players for two years. How does it actually work and which Brabanders participate? See below.

Every year the PDC (Professional Darts Corporation) organizes the so-called Qualifying School (Q School). This year players will compete for the coveted tour card from Monday 8 January to Sunday 14 January. To explain Q School, it is first necessary to explain briefly what a tour card is, because it is issued during Q School.

PDC issued 128 tour tickets to the world’s best players. The tour card is valid for two years. After those two years, as a player you have to be in the top 64 in the world, which means you keep your place in the PDC. If you fall outside those 64 players, you lose your card and you have to (probably) go back to Q School.

Everyone can participate

Anyone can apply to Q School. However, you have to pay a registration fee. This tournament has been held in Germany for European players for many years. Players from England have their own Q School.

The 2024 edition kicks off next week, where nearly 500(!) darts players will participate. The first three days of Q School consist of preliminary rounds. As a darts player you must progress to the ‘Final Stage’, which is then played over four days. About half of players will qualify for this.

Final Stage

During those final four days, you will win a tour card if you are the best on that day. In addition, a ranking list is also kept of the performances of all players. Ultimately, the 10 to 20 best (possible) players from that ranking will receive tour cards. They will then be among the likes of Michael van Gerwen, Luke Humphries, Raymond van Barneveld, Luke Littler and Rob Cross over the next two years.
