Singer Crispian St. Peters passed away on Tuesday, 8 June 2010. Crispian St Peters was born Robin Peter Smith on 5 April 1939. The Englishman grew up in Swanley, Kent. In his youth, St. Peters mainly played in unknown bands in England.
He made his stage debut in 1956 as a member of The Hard Travelers. He later appeared with The Country Gentlemen, Beat Formula Three, and Peter And The Wolves. In the latter band he made his first commercial recording in 1964.
St Peters signed to the Decca label in 1965. His first two singles, “Invecto Show” and “At This Moment” were not huge successes. A year later he scored a hit in the UK with “You Were On My Mind”. The song reached fifth place on the Dutch Top 40 in 1966. It was there for no less than sixteen weeks.
His fourth single, “The Pied Piper”, also reached American audiences. The song reached fourth place on the Billboard Charts and also reached the Top 10 in the UK. The song reached second place in the Dutch Top 40 in 1966. And it was there for fifteen weeks. The success of “The Pied Piper” was the pinnacle of St. Louis’ career. Peters.
St Peters released his first LP with “Follow Me” in 1967. However, three years later he was dropped by Decca Records. St Peters released several more recordings under the Square Records label. The success of “The Pied Piper” will never be equaled.
After a heart attack in 1995, the singer’s musical career stalled. Six years later, St. Peters retires for good. Due to various bouts of pneumonia, he was too ill to perform again.
Crispian St Peters is 71 years old.
