Title:August 16, 2022

In the United States, primaries are held this Tuesday in the states of Alaska and Wyoming. In the Wyoming primaries, pro-Trump candidate Harriet Hageman is expected to beat incumbent congressman Liz Cheney, who has come under fire for being one of only two Republicans to serve on a U.S. House committee investigating the events of January 6, 2021.

In Alaska, former Republican governor and vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin is the favorite among many candidates to fill the only Alaskan seat in the U.S. House of Representatives, which Don Young had held for nearly 50 years before he died in March.

Meanwhile, Alaska Senator Lisa Murkowski faces 18 Republican candidates in the primaries, including pro-Trump candidate Kelly Tshibaka. In 2021, Murkowski was among seven Republican senators who voted to convict then-President Trump after the House of Representatives impeached him for the January 6, 2021, uprising at the US Capitol.
