Botic van de Zandschulp and Gijs Brouwer’s first round match at Wimbledon has been postponed again. Due to rain on Tuesday and Wednesday, the Netherlands had to wait another day for their first match in London.
Van de Zandschulp and Brouwer’s respective matches against China’s Zhang Zhizhen and Germany’s Alexander Zverev were originally scheduled for Tuesday. Due to rainfall in London, almost all matches were moved to Wednesday.
Due to a busy schedule and little rainfall, many matches were moved back to Wednesday, including the Van de Zandschulp and Brouwer matches.
The remainder of Tallon Greek Spoor’s match against Hungary’s Márton Fucsovics was completed on Wednesday evening. The game was abandoned on Tuesday due to rain. The Dutchman then faced deficits of 6-4 and 3-1.
Spoor Greece (ATP-31) was unable to turn things around in the remainder of the first half. The Dutch tennis leader lost in three sets to bottom-ranked Fucsovics (ATP-67): 6-4, 6-2 and 6-4.
