Queen Elizabeth II of England died at the age of 96

The queen died peacefully, the royal family said in a statement.

Queen Elizabeth’s doctors expressed serious concern for her health today. Buckingham Palace said the Queen was under medical supervision. Prince Charles, his wife Camilla and Prince William immediately departed for his country residence in Scotland, Balmoral Castle, where the Queen is staying.

Yesterday it was announced that the 96-year-old queen should rest after a ‘full day’ on Tuesday. He was visited by former Prime Minister Boris Johnson who had come to offer his resignation. Next came Liz Truss who was asked by Elizabeth to become the new British Prime Minister.

Health problems

The Queen has become much easier in recent months due to her fragile health. He canceled several appointments on the advice of his doctor.

In early May, the Queen did not read the Address from the Throne at the opening of the parliamentary year. His son Charles did. It is the first time since 1963 that Queen Elizabeth has skipped the annual ceremony.

Queen Elizabeth was diagnosed with the coronavirus in February, after which she hasn’t appeared in public for some time. Buckingham Palace has not disclosed the cause of the Queen’s death.

Prince Philip

Elizabeth has been Queen of England for 70 years. Her husband Prince Philip died last year. He lived to be 99 years old.

Elizabeth was succeeded by her son Charles (73).
