A Russian cruise missile fired from Belarus in December and discovered in eastern Poland in April was useless. This is what Polish and American researchers say. “A Russian KH 55 missile from the Soviet era,” explained BNR foreign commentator Bernard Hammelburg. “It’s a strange story, the Polish Prime Minister has just heard about it,” said Europe reporter Geert Jan Hahn.
“This is a Russian KH 55 missile and is from the Soviet era,” Hammelburg said. According to Hammelburg, cruise missiles usually have some kind of GPS system that allows them to hit targets fairly precisely, but this is an old model so it may not work well or not completely. According to Polish and American investigators, the missiles were fired from Belarus, either by Russian bombers or fighter planes.
Hammelburg considered it useless, but called it a crazy story. ‘If this object had a charge and exploded, it would be a Russian aircraft attack on NATO territory. It gets very complicated.’
Bachmut
Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces around Bachmut claim to have made territorial gains against Russia. European reporter Geert Jan Hahn sees the importance of this. Territorial gains did not occur in Bachmut itself, but southwest of the city and were the result of miscommunication between Russian and Wagnerite units. This is a small logistical improvement for Ukraine, but the PR value is much higher, according to Hahn.
