Norton Commando 961 ready to launch

As of December 2020, the Norton Commando 961 has already been announced or confirmed. Now Norton is finally ready to present the Commando 961.

Power and machine tools

The new Commando 961 will be available in Sport and Cafe Racer variants and will be powered by an air- and oil-cooled 961cc parallel-win engine. The block produces 76.8 hp at 7,250 rpm and a maximum torque of 81 Nm. The block is in a new, hand-welded frame at Norton’s new headquarters in Solihull, England.

The front is covered by a 43mm inverted fork that can be adjusted from the hlins. Two dampers with external reservoirs work at the rear, also from hlins.

Braking is accomplished with radially mounted monoblock four-piston Brembo brakes, which allow for biting of the two floating 320mm brake discs. The exhaust system is made of stainless steel.

In addition to the Matrix Black color, the Manx Platinum color variant is also offered, this applies to Sport and Cafe Racer as well.

The Sport features a black anodized handlebar, tapered and higher mounted. Cafe Racer, on the other hand, has an aluminum clip-on. Both variants get carbon fiber front fenders and matching saddles. Passenger seats are offered as an option.

Currently, the Norton Commando 961 is only available in the UK, with prices starting at £16,499.
