The United States and South Korea have joined forces in nuclear strategy. Reuters reported this. In the event of a nuclear crisis, not only would these countries share information with each other, but the US would also provide nuclear assets.
In this way, the countries are trying to prevent North Korea from using its own nuclear weapons, according to Deputy Security Advisor Kim Tae-hyo. “If North Korea launches a nuclear attack, it will mean the end of Kim Jong-un’s regime,” Kim said. “The United States and South Korea will provide an extraordinary response to any form of North Korean aggression.”

The partnership also states that the United States will explore ways to share nuclear assets with South Korea and use South Korean non-nuclear assets in joint operations. In addition, the US has indicated that it wants to exert pressure on North Korea for a longer period of time as a deterrent. Kim: ‘Based on discussions with our allies, we concluded that we do not need to develop our own nuclear weapons.’
America’s commitment
Additionally, the United States has committed to stationing or routinely deploying nuclear assets in South Korea, should the situation require it. North Korea has long used threatening language and also regularly conducts missile tests. South Korea previously called on China to take a constructive stance against North Korean threats.

Japan also appears interested in cooperating more with South Korea and the United States, Kim said. He stated that a trilateral summit between the three countries would most likely be held in August.
