The drive system, consisting of four electric motors, a 50 kWh liquid-cooled battery, and a custom-built control system, is good for around 2,000 hp. This accelerates the Ford Pro Electric SuperVan from 0 to 100 km/h in under two seconds. A chassis developed specifically for racing makes the SuperVan perfect for the track. Additionally, it uses components from the recently launched E-Transit Custom, the first electric version of Europe’s best-selling commercial vehicle. This technology is complemented by SYNC touch screen technology. This system has been equipped with extra functionality to be able to take advantage of the unique possibilities of the Electric SuperVan.
The Ford Pro Electric SuperVan was built in secret. The Extreme Superbus was developed by Ford Performance. The exterior design came from the Ford Design team in Cologne, while the bus was eventually made by STARD in Austria, a specialist in electric rally and racing technology.
The Ford Pro Electric SuperVan is a one-off concept, leaving the Ford Design team completely free to create a wild vehicle that captures maximum attention and reflects its extreme performance. The curvature of the wheels, muscular styling and unique paint scheme make the SuperVan the toughest Transit design imaginable by designers. The all-electric powertrain gives the team a lot of freedom, without the mounting and cooling restrictions associated with internal combustion engines.
The motorsport influence of Ford Performance and STARD is immediately apparent: the front splitter, side skirts and rear diffuser would look great on a race car, while the radical design cuts and dorsal fins flow seamlessly into the rear wing. This is necessary to push the Electric SuperVan onto the asphalt for more grip. The racing influence continues under the skin with a long double wishbone suspension that is unequal at every corner. The subframe, suspension and brakes also come from racing.
The construction of this track-ready concept vehicle combines E-Transit Custom floor construction with steel spaceframes and lightweight composite body panels. A special 50 kWh liquid-cooled battery (which can be fully charged in 45 minutes) is center-mounted for optimal weight distribution and a low center of gravity.
The four electric motors together deliver an incredible 2,000 hp to the four driven wheels. Thanks to this combination, this car can be thrown from rest to 100 km / h in two seconds. This makes the Ford Pro Electric SuperVan by far the fastest and cleanest SuperVan to date.
Further performance improvements are thanks to an electronic package that regulates, among other things, traction control, launch control, pit lane speed limiter and regenerative braking system.
Nice detail: The Ford Pro Electric SuperVan comes with a ‘tire cleaning mode’ for the event. This new function brakes one axle completely, while the other axle rotates at high power. In this way, the driver easily creates burnout on the front or rear axle.
