Minsa signs contract with UK to build hospitals in Trujillo and Piura | News

As part of its policy to close the gap in hospital infrastructure in the country, the Government of Peru, through the Ministry of Health (Minsa), signed a memorandum of understanding and an inter-state contract with the United Kingdom for the implementation of two long-awaited investment projects: the Trujillo Regional Teaching Hospital, in La Libertad, and the High Complexity Hospital of Piura.

The signing of the agreement took place at the Government Palace in the presence of President Dina Boluarte, the Minister of Health, César Vásquez, the British Ambassador to Peru, Gavin Cook, and the regional governors of La Libertad and Piura, César Acuña and Luis Neyra, respectively.

“Today we write in the history of the health of this country a significant milestone that will change the lives of the northern part of Peru. We are convinced that the signing of this agreement will mean improvements in infrastructure and equipment, but it also reaffirms the Government’s commitment that every citizen has access to quality and timely health services,” said Minister César Vásquez.

For her part, President Dina Boluarte stated that with the signing of the interstate contract signed today with the United Kingdom, a fundamental step is being taken in the commitment to improve health services for the Peruvian people and in the task of continuing to unblock projects that have been pending for a long time.

The Trujillo Regional Teaching Hospital project includes an investment of S/1,455,952,736.55, which includes technical archives, the acquisition of modern medical equipment and vehicles, with the aim of improving health services for more than one million inhabitants of the La Libertad region and the surrounding areas.

It will have more than 28,600 state-of-the-art medical devices for 26 health service units, considering that it will be in category III-1. In addition, the existing facilities will be dismantled and the design, equipment and commissioning will be carried out based on the Fast Track modality, which allows construction to be carried out in parallel, thus saving time in its implementation.

On the other hand, for the High Complexity Hospital of Piura there is a budget of S/ 968,437,880.19 and will benefit more than three million residents of Piura, Tumbes, Lambayeque and Cajamarca.

The future hospital will have outpatient consultations, emergency, surgical center, diagnostic imaging, pharmacy and other services. It will also have about 600 beds, 386 of which will be referred to the inpatient area, and is expected to acquire more than 7,600 pieces of equipment.

Minsa through the National Health Investment Programme will continue to monitor the progress of the project to ensure completion of the work in accordance with the planned deadlines. The UK Health Service Alliance Consortium will be responsible for carrying out the work.
